Casa de la Ermita and Hacienda de La Carche is a family company with a long-standing connection with agriculture. The winery and its vineyards are located in El Carche, a protected regional park and a stunningly beautiful mountain range with one of the highest peaks in the Region of Murcia.
The centuries-old olive tree that stands at the gates of Casa de la Ermita is the symbol of the winery and the source of inspiration that brings together the farming tradition and the state-of-the-art technology that allows the family to make top quality Jumilla wines by taking great care throughout the production process.
While Monastrell is the most popular variety in the area, at Casa de la Ermita they have succeeded in adapting to other varieties from different parts of the world, such as Petit Verdot, Merlot, Syrah or Cabernet Sauvignon.
Casa de la Ermita is the first officially recognized organic wine company in Jumilla. This is because wine is made in a completely natural way, so without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilization.
The main grape variety for Casa de la Ermita - just as for the whole region by the way - is undoubtedly the monastrell. There are not only fruity young wines made of it but also beautiful crianzas and ripe dulces. The wines for aging come in one of the more than 4200 oak barrels in the cellar.
